Confirm the result and the unfinished work before the visit ends.
The most useful closing conversation connects the original symptom with the repair performed. Ask what failed, what changed, and how the relevant condition was checked. If the source remains uncertain, have that stated clearly instead of accepting a broad assurance that every possible leak has been ruled out.

Match the check to the original condition
A drain leak, pressurized connector, appliance discharge, and intermittent symptom raise different questions. Remind the provider of the timing you originally observed. Ask it to explain the appropriate check, not to demonstrate a generic fixture operation that may be unrelated to the problem.
Do not perform your own repeated stress test or reopen equipment after the provider has left. Follow the operating instructions supplied and ask what a recurrence would look like. A repair does not create a universal guarantee that unrelated plumbing cannot leak later.
Identify what is ready for ordinary use
Ask whether any fixture, appliance, room, or water supply must remain out of use. Get the reason, the next action, and the responsible contact. If another trade or an inspection must happen first, know who is arranging it.
In a managed building, make sure the person responsible for shared controls knows the status. A resident should not restore a shared system merely because one local fixture appears dry.
List exclusions while everyone can see them
Drying, wet materials, paint, cabinetry, flooring, or electrical assessment may remain after the plumbing work. Ask which of those items were inspected and which were not. The distinction helps you arrange the next step without attributing unfinished work to a promise the provider never made.
Where a permit applies, retain the reference and any inspection results. A final plumbing invoice is not the same as confirmation that the permit is closed or that restoration can proceed.
Leave with a practical follow-up route
Keep the company's name, invoice, repair description, and written warranty or return-visit terms. Ask whom to contact if water returns and what information would be useful. The repair-record page brings those items together.
