Public water and account questions
- Report a Portland water-service problem: use the utility route for apparent public water problems or shutoff assistance.
- Understand meter observations: official background on water-use clues, with safe access and interpretation still important.
- Request a leak-related adjustment: current post-repair account requirements.
- Home Water Leak Repair Program: separate eligibility and application information for public assistance.
Confirm that Portland Water Bureau is the supplier on the actual account. A mailing address is not a complete supplier check.
Responsibility and permits
- Water-service maintenance code: connection-specific boundaries, including different meter arrangements.
- Residential plumbing permits: residential scope, application, and inspection guidance.
- Plumbing permit chapter: the City's permit framework and defined exceptions.
- Broken sewer and drain lines: waste-line repair, shared-system, and right-of-way questions.
Use the appropriate authority to resolve a property-specific question. Do not apply a water-service boundary to a sewer line or residential guidance to a different building category without checking.
Hiring and material cleanup
